Quick update on the Sleep Chronicles.

Last night he got to bed around 11, woke up just after 2AM, fell asleep less than an hour later.

It did not really matter much as school was cancelled due to the weather. We had three inches of snow here and school was called off.

Let that sink in as you realize the North East is about to get 2-3 feet of snow.

A delegation from the Democratic National Committee was here today to continue evaluating the city's worthiness for the 2016 convention. Wonder what went through their heads when they saw all the chaos three inches of snow caused. I know the convention is in the summer, but heaven help us they see a local weather forecast of hyperbole and panic when there is a chance of a thunderstorm. That's how Columbus handles a crisis.

My son's also been bringing me Green Eggs and Ham to read. He hands me the book. Points at the words on the cover of the book and says, "Ham," when he gets to that word.

I also have him saying, "Sam-I-Am," at the appropriate moments - which he does do, but very quietly.

Now he's upstairs jumping on his bed.

I am so sorry that you have dealt with this for so many years. The melatonin is doing what it does. It helps people fall asleep faster, but it doesn't stop people from waking up with whatever is on their mind. Valerian root is another thing that some people take to help with sleep.

I am married to someone who practices unsleeping because he needs to wake up and worry about everything, and this entry makes me wonder if I should hide his melatonin.

I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. Valerian root is something else that is also supposed to help sleep. These things help people go to sleep faster, but they do not help the night wakings.

I am married to someone who wakes up at night to think about things that do not matter in the middle of the night, and you are making me wonder if I should hide his melatonin and tell him to stay up later.

Thanks. If he could tell us why he likes waking up in the middle of the night to sing the song of his people that would be wonderful.
